I have over 35 years of specialty experience in reproductive health psychology, providing psychotherapy, professional training, consultation, and program development. My national and international audiences include mental health professionals, physicians, nurses, hospital chaplains, clergy, nurse-midwives, doulas, and childbirth educators. From 1999-2013 I served as the first and only system wide Coordinator of Pregnancy Loss and Newborn Death for Fairview Health Services in Minnesota where I developed policy, procedure and patient care services across multiple hospitals and clinics.
I am currently the Chair of the International Marce Society special interest group on pregnancy loss and newborn death and serve on the national faculty of Resolve Through Sharing Bereavement Services. I have held leadership positions with the North American Society for Psychosocial OB/Gyn, Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Minnesota, Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Alliance, and Minnesota Women in Psychology. I was among a handful of mental health professionals in the first cohort of Perinatal Loss Caregivers certified in 2013 by the National Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center. And I was granted certification in perinatal mental health therapy (PMH-C) by Postpartum Support International in 2021.
